Workshop: Queer for peace
An initiative against occupation and for freedom
of Palestine and GLBT people in Palaestine
Target: everyone who is interested in queer political action not only in theory and sees the link between all kind of oppression.
Explanation: "Queer for peace" is a kind of network to which people from different countries and political queer backgrounds belong. We strongly believe that human rights are not distinguishable as a consequence of opportunity or ideology, but that the struggle for the identity of a population is as important as the claim for sexual identity of each individual. We decided to go to Palestine because the Israeli-Palestinian question has gained not only in the Middle East and in the Arabian countries, but also all over the world, the symbolic dimension of a paradigm of the new imperialism, of the hatred that radicalises the positions and fosters the integralism, and of the lack of communication.
This situation obliges us all to shoulder an individual and collective responsibility towards the resolution of the conflict and towards the beginning of a gradual democratisation, or rather, of the assertion of the universality of human rights, starting from the right of self-determination of peoples and individuals.
